Do you or your family lack health insurance coverage? The Oswego County Department of Social Services offers programs for uninsured low-income New York State Residents. These programs include Medicaid (MA) and Family Health Plus (FHPlus). There are income guidelines and other eligibility requirements for each program. The programs are very complex, with many different eligibility categories providing coverage for a wide range of individuals and circumstances.
How to apply:
In order to find out if you are eligible, you must file an application form, a face-to-face interview is no longer required. However, you may be contacted by phone or mail for any needed questions on your application. You will be asked to provide certain information during the application process. You may also do a self-screening at the My Benefits website.
Applications for families, children and adults of all ages are accepted at your local Department of Social Services (DSS) office or through a facilitated enroller. Facilitated enrollers are community organizations funded to help families and individuals younger than age 65 to enroll in public health insurance programs.
