Hundreds Attend Inaugural Hollis Harvest Festival at Camp Hollis

OSWEGO - The inaugural Hollis Harvest Festival was a huge success, with 551 visitors who enjoyed trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, ghost hunts on the Camp Hollis trails, Halloween arts and crafts, a performance by Jeff the Magic Man, a lit pumpkin trail, pumpkin passports and other fall themed activities.

Sponsored by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, the event took place Oct. 20 at the Oswego County park in the Town of Oswego. Brandon Morey, coordinator of recreation and youth development for the youth bureau, said many businesses and organizations across the county helped out with the event.

"Events like 'Hollis Harvest' give Oswego County residents the opportunity to enjoy Camp Hollis year-round," said Morey. "Along with the families and individuals in attendance we would like to thank Stoney Meadow Farm in Oswego and Reeves Farm in Baldwinsville for their pumpkin donations, AmeriCorps member Morgan Batchelor, the Town of Oswego Fire Department, Tobacco Free Network, Wal-Mart stores in Oswego and Fulton, Price Chopper in Oswego, Mark's Pizzeria, and all of the fantastic volunteers we had for such a successful day."

Camp Hollis is owned by Oswego County and operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, as a residential camp during the summer months for children ages 8 to 14 years old. The facility is available from April through October for families, clubs, school groups and other organizations.

Camp Hollis is located at 40 Health Camp Road, off Lakeshore Road in the town of Oswego. Those seeking more information about Camp Hollis or other programs offered through the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau may call 315-349-3451 or 1-800-596-3200, ext.3451.
